Swimming year-round for Irvine Novaquatics, Gonik extends her breaststroke range out to the 200, and competes in free and back as well. She had an outstanding long course season this summer at the 2017 PC SCSC Futures Championships earning best times in the LCM 100 breast and 200 IM. The MIT Engineers were a powerhouse program in the NCAA's Division III-last season, their women's swim team placed 5th at the NCAA D3 Championships. Gonik's best times in the 100 breast, 200 IM and 400 IM would've landed her in the A final for each of these events at the 2017 New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference Championships (NEWMAC). In the 100 back, she would've also made the B final at the NEWMAC Championships venue.
Gonik will be enrolled at MIT as an engineering student pursuing a major in electrical engineering and computer science.
