Hwa Min Sim, a senior at Northwood High School, has announced his verbal commitment to swim for the Emory University Eagles in 2018-19.
A USA Swimming Scholastic All-American and NISCA All-American, Sim excels at sprint butterfly, and contributed to the Timberwolves 3rd place overall finish at the 2017 CIF Southern Section Division 1 Championships. Sim, a NHS swim team captain, finished 7th in the 100 fly (51.02), and 22.05 in the 50 free at the 2017 CIF Southern Section Division 1 Championships. Sim was a member of the Northwood relays that finished 2nd in the 4x50 free, and 7th in the 4x50 medley contributing a fly leg in 22.51.
Sim recorded a personal best 100 fly last high school season with a time of 50.00 at the 45th Annual Foothill Swim Games, the second-fastest time in school history that places him well within range of breaking the current 2014 record next season.
Sim swims year-round for Irvine Novaquatics Club, and wrapped up long course season competing at the 2017 Futures Championships in Santa Clara improving his best LCM times in the 50 free and 100 back. In the 100 fly he finished off a lifetime best at the 2017 Los Angeles Invite.

“I'm excited to announce my verbal commitment to Emory University. The coaching staff and team were one of the most close knit groups I have seen, and that along with top notch academics make Emory a great fit for me. I think this supportive environment will help me grow as both a student and swimmer, helping me find success in the future."
Go Eagles!! - Hwa Min Sim
