Scholastic All-American Henry Wu, a senior at Northwood High School, has verbally committed to swim for Duke University Blue Devils class of 2022.
Wu specializes in breaststroke, and shares the 100 breast individual Northwood High School record (56.17), and participated in the 200 Medley Relay record (1:32.51). Wu swims year-round with Irvine Novaquatics during the club season, and has developed into a very effective breaststroker holding Nova's 15-16 Boys 200 Breast LC record (2:19.57).
Henry Wu - NHS Roster Profile
As a junior, Wu was a finalist at the CIF Southern Section Division 1 Championships in May, clocking in at 56.68 to place 4th. He was also eighteenth in the 100 fly (51.48), and swam breast leg off Northwood's school record breaking 200 medley relay splitting a 26.27.
Wu had an impressive long course meet last May at the 2017 Speedo Grand Challenge. In finals he dropped 4.40 seconds off his 200 breaststroke personal best time producing a new Nova club record of 2:19.57. His long course season ended at the 2017 Speedo Summer Junior Nationals in East Meadows, NY where he went 1:06.04 in the 100 breast, and 200 breast (2:19.90) as a C finalist.
While he is currently just off scoring range from the 2017 Men's ACC Championships, Wu will add breaststroke depth to Head Coach Colella's Duke University program.
Wu will be enrolled at Duke University as an engineering student majoring in Biomedical Engineering.
