Northwood High School Frosh-Soph swimmers performed a full-on assault on the Villa Park Relays record book. Five Frosh-Soph meet records were set at the venue hosted by the Villa Park High School Aquatics on Saturday, March 5, 2016. 5 records fell in 14 Frosh-Soph contested events.
The first Frosh-Soph girls quartet broke the 200 yard breaststroke relay with the team of Hayley Pham, Amanda Nguyen, Sobyn Chung, and Katherine Wang combined for a 2:28.67, which skimmed just under the 2:28.74 done by the Capistrano Valley High School in 2014 by .07 hundreds-of-a-second.

The team of Ashley Lee, Maily Nguyen, Katrina Loye, and Hayley Pham broke the 200 yard backstroke relay by combining for a 2:06.23. The old overall record was set in 2014 by Santa Margarita High School. That relay has a lot of potential; three of the four swimmers are just sophomores, with Loye being the lone freshman swimmer.

The team of Conner Budka, Morgan Choi, Sean Gao, and Leon Shi combined for a 2:11.22 in breaking the 200 yard breaststroke relay. That shaved 1.2 seconds off of the old record which was done by Yorba Linda in 2011. Notably, that relay had the fastest Frosh-Soph breaststroke split from sophomore Shi (31.37) in the event out of 28 swimmers.

Conner Budka, Nick Huynh, Thomas Kim, and Arthur Liu collectively put together a time of 1:51.19 to break the previous 200 yard butterfly relay record of 1:53.44 that the Villa Park High School set back in 2014.

The Timberwolves got out to a slight lead on a 59.16 split from Sean Doan, but then extended it quickly to leave the rest of the field to fight for second place after Nick Huynh blasted a 56.25 for the second leg. Teammates Emiliano Olague (56.96) and anchor Spencer Sellwood (54.19) brought it home to finish in 3:46.56. That time crushed the relay meet record 3:51.23 set in 2014 by Villa Park High School, and was nearly eight seconds ahead of any other team in the heat.
